Our Family

DeWitt Family PhotoScott and Danielle:

We met as students at Grand Rapids Baptist College, Grand Rapids, MI and were married December 18, 1993. Scott accepted a position as Youth Pastor at our first church in Constantine, MI and later served at Southgate Baptist Church in Springfield, OH. In 2003, we left the states to study Spanish in Costa Rica and June 26, 2004 arrived to serve in Paraguay. While Scott enjoys most things involving sports, Danielle enjoys decorating and working with her Creative Memories. But maybe what we look forward to the most are those few times when the babysitter arrives and we get to go away together. With 3 children, dates have little resemblance to what we did together back in the good ole days. Now we sit in a quiet place and say "did you hear that?" "Nope." "Me either, wasn't it great!"

Zac:

As lively as any little boy, Zac is loving his time in Paraguay and loves everything about going to school except getting up early, studying, and homework (I guess that leaves recess and gym). He is still working on his Spanish and has a tutor that comes on Saturdays. He also plays in a basketball league 3 times a week which forces him to use his Spanish in normal conversation.

Abby:

Our little artist spends hours drawing and creating little crafts on her very own desk. She has just started in an all Spanish preschool and is still a little apprehensive with talking and playing. But when it is time to paint, she is all smiles. Of all her favorite activities, perhaps the one she most enjoys is bossing her little sister around. After all, that is what big sisters are for.

Anna:

With hair flying in every direction, little Anna is the life of the party. She shows little fear in talking, hugging, or just playing with anyone, though often forgets to talk to them in Spanish and wonders why they don't understand. She now gets mommy all to herself every morning and is just in heaven. With her love for clothes and shoes, we think she might be a chip off the old block, on her mother's side that is.
